When your furry favorite crawls into your bed in the middle of the night to get some of the snugness you’ve been enjoying under that comforter, it’s hard not to just let them in.

After all, they’re family.

But most importantly how can you say ‘no’ that adorable little face? It’s impossible! And you’re not alone.

According to a recent survey of 2000 pet owners, two-thirds of them share their bed with their little darlings. Now that’s the majority!

Yes, majority wins. But sometimes they shouldn’t. While there’s no doubt that sharing sleep space with your pet is a warm, fuzzy feeling; there are a few reasons you shouldn’t be indulging in this.

  1. There’s a chance you might get scratched

Whether you’re sleeping with one of those large breed pets or a pint-sized one, there are chances your pet might scratch you in your sleep.

And we’re not saying that’s intentional on their part. No.

Even pets dream. Sometimes about running, which results in moving paws in sleep. If you’re hugging your pet, you might get in their way.

And needless to say, end up with a couple of mysterious scratches when you wake up.

   2. There might be some err nasty, smelly accidents

Wait, is that chocolate on your pillow?

Nope.

It’s a stinky offering from the cat and the dog gods that live with you!

Yes, you’ve toilet trained your pet, so such a scenario is out of the question, right? Wrong.

Accidents can still happen. You’re sleeping in your room. The door’s bolted. Your pet is cuddled up right next to you. And suddenly they have the urge to go.

Before you know it, they’ve done their business. They’ve given you the “gift”.

   3. Your allergies might act up

A victim of dust allergy? Perhaps you suffer from other kinds of environmental allergies. In that case, here’s something you need to know.

Pet fur and dander can trigger allergies.

Fido might’ve been a good boy in front of you, but who knows what he’s rolled around in all day?

Your pets are exposed to allergens such as dust and pollen all the time.

These stick to their paws and fur and cause allergies. Last time we checked, runny noses and sneezes don’t result in a good night’s slee

  1. You probably won’t get the best sleep of your life

It’s 3am. Your pet is zooming about your room at full speed, chasing something you can’t see. Sounds familiar?

In case it sounds too familiar, you’ve already faced what we’re going to talk about – sleep disruption.

Some pets, especially the young ones, tend to be a tad active at night. They might wake you up for anything – from midnight snacking to bathroom breaks.

If such disruptions become a regular thing, your sleep quality will suffer in the long run.

   5. Neither will your pet sleep well

Think about it.

You might be a tosser-turner.

You might be a snorer.

You might sleep spread eagle after 2am for all you know.

Conditions like the above do not create a conducive sleep environment for your pet. Poor sleep can affect your pets adversely too.

If your pet acts grumpy, disoriented or forgetful, or finds it difficult to perform ordinary, daily tasks, they might be suffering from sleep deprivation.

Now if you had a pet bed, this wouldn’t be a problem.

  1. Your pet deserves their own space too

If you deserve your own bed, which you can sink into every night, don’t you think your pet deserves the same?

Pets like to sleep cocooned – all curled up nicely because it makes them feel safe. A feeling they can get in their own bed.

Besides, having their own dog or cat bed helps them get uninterrupted, restful sleep, which adds to their overall health and happiness.

  1. And their kind of comfort

Your pet’s comfort requirements can be a lot different than yours.

While you might find your bed to be the most comfortable place on this planet earth, your pet might not. They’ll just sleep on it because they don’t have their own space.

Well, if you care about their comfort, getting them their own bed is the best way to go.

Pet beds will contour to your best friend’s body well, providing them with optimum comfort. Plus, orthopedic dog beds will support your senior pet’s joints, muscles and spine, relieving pressure so they sleep well.

We’re not saying sleeping with your pet is bad but…

It’s not the best idea. Sure, there are benefits to sharing your bed with your pet too. The comfort and security, the warmth, the cuddles – there’s lots to love about sleeping with your pet!

But if you want you and your pet to get the best sleep of your individual lives, get your friend with fur their own bed.

You can grab a dog bed online and get a ton of benefits from it! Not only will they provide your pet with adequate support, but the good ones will be easy to clean as well. Besides, they’d likely also come with chew and tear proof fabric so you don’t have to worry about damage at all. Either to their bed or yours.

So what are you waiting for? Get your pet a bed already!
